Vic Elford - Porsche 907
1968 Targa Florio "Faux" poster

Vic Elford (1935-2022), along with his teammate Umberto Maglioli, drove the Team Porsche 907 in the 1968 Targa Florio on public roads in Sicily.

Elford was getting used to the road racing and could drive flat out if the car held up.

Unfortunately on the first lap, a bad center-lock wheel nut came loose while he raced and he had to stop to fix it. Setting off again, it quickly came loose a second time and he hit a curb, giving him a flat tire.

Having no jack, he convinced the local Sicilians to lift the car up so that he could install a temporary spare and limp back to the pits.

Once they replaced all 4 wheels and nuts, he raced off the chase the pack, a full 18 minutes in arrears!

Not one to give up, Elford drove at 10/10ths, driving 8 of the 10 laps, and won the race by an astounding 3 minutes!!

It’s come to be known as one of the greatest come from behind victories in motorsports history.

Live-sketching in the Ferrari Québec Showroom

On Thursday July 9th, I went to Ferrari Québec in Montréal, hoping that they would allow me to live-sketch one of their showroom Ferrari's.

They were incredibly welcoming and let me at it.

They had a lovely 1967 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 on display, which I just had to sketch.

I sincerely want to thank Ferrari Québec for being so accommodating, first class all the way.
