Racing History Toy Posters

For the past few decades, I’ve been collecting vintage racing automobilia of all kinds.

The collection includes signed racing posters, racing decals, race programs, cigarette cards, racing patches, racing team press kits, racing art, but by far the largest part of my collection are my toys.

I love my toys, and I thought of a way to show them off.


I’m creating a series of posters that group my toy collection in various categories. The first in the series feature Grand Prix Cars of the 1950’s (posters no.1 and no.2), Land Speed Record cars, Grand Prix Colours, and my Tyrrell P34 toys.


The large posters are 12”x 18” and sell for $20 each plus shipping. The Tyrrell poster is 18”x 6” and sells for $15 each plus shipping, and the Grand Prix Colours is 18”x 4” and sells for $12 each plus shipping. If you order all 5 posters, the Grand Prix Colours poster is free.


I’ll be following these up with Grand Prix Cars of the 1930’s, Grand Prix Cars of the 1960’s, Grand Prix Cars of the 1970’s, Sports/GT Cars of the 1950’s, Sports/GT Cars of the 1960’s, Ferrari race Cars, Mercedes Race Cars, Bugatti Race Cars, Bentley Race Cars, and a few other interesting themes.


Considering what the going rate is for these toys, this is certainly a cost-effective alternative!

Historic Car Art gallery

For almost a year now, I've have been represented in the UK by Historic Car Art.

It has been a huge honour for me that my work should be chosen by this prestigious professional gallery, and the experience has been very rewarding and fruitful.

They not only carry fine art and limited editions, but also original vintage racing posters.

Classic and Sports Car - December Motoring Art feature

Last December, Classic & Sports Car did a feature on my vintage racing automobilia.

This December, they have followed it up with a nice feature on my racing history art.

As you can see, Mick Walsh has done a nice job in the writing, and their designer has created a stunning layout.

I'm so very proud to be featured in such a fine classic car magazine which promotes racing art such as mine.

This poster is part of a collection of racing automobilia gifted to me by my friend Peter Felder. It's autographed by his good friend Herbert Muller.

Vintage Racing Automobilia

When my son Laurent and I were at the 2007 Mosport Vintage Racing Festival, we met a lot of great people. One of these was Peter Felder from Ontario. And since we’ve met, we have become good friends.

Peter used to be part of some major racing teams from the 60’s through to the 80’s, and along the way, accumulated a lot of “stuff”.

A few months ago, Peter was clearing out his attic, and asked me if I was interested in having some of this “stuff”. Of course, vintage racing addict that I am, I said yes.

Just before Christmas, a large box arrived, and when I opened it, I was completely shocked. Peter had generously filled it to the brim with amazing items: photos, stickers, tags, patches, posters, some of which were autographed, race programs, corporate brochures, and press kits, all covering Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 5000, Can Am, Trans Am and Sports GT racing, from Watkins Glen to Hockenheim.

Over the next few months, I will be posting some of these items, and adding them to my vintage racing automobilia collection site.

Classic & Sports Car features my racing automobilia collection

The December issue of Classic & Sports Car carries a nice feature on my vintage racing automobilia collection.

It's a great honour to be presented in such a fine publication; it's one of my favorites, and I keep every issue as a reference piece. The Editor-in-Chief Mick Walsh did a wonderful job of showing the enthusiam I have for my collection.

He also mentioned doing a piece on my racing history artwork in the spring; I'm very much looking forward to that interview.

Collector Cards - World on Wheels

Recently, I picked up an interesting set of vehicle cards.


World on Wheels Card No.2

They were published in 1953-54 by the American company Topps in a 160-card set under the title "World on Wheels". They later added 20 more cards, and featured it as a 180-card set; I guest these have blue+black printing on the back and are rarer and more valuable.

The sets included a fairly eclectic mix of vehicles, including passenger cars, sports cars, race cars, buses, commercial vehicles, and military vehicles.

I acquired 17 sports car/race car cards. I haven't finished scanning them, but I thought I'd show off a few of them.

Sir Stirling Moss OBE - a British National Treasure

Born on September 17, 1929, Sir Stirling Moss OBE is one of the world's premier drivers of the 1950's and early 1960's.

He excelled in all types of vehicles in all types of races – he is often called "the greatest driver never to win the World Championship". He was successful in race and sports cars made by Aston Martin, Cooper, Ferrari, Lotus, Jaguar, Maserati, Mercedes, Sunbeam, and Vanwall.

He made history in 1955 by winning, along with his navigator, journalist Denis Jenkinson, the Mille Miglia in a record time of 10 hrs, 7 mins, 48 secs, nearly a half an hour ahead of second place Juan Manuel Fangio.

Sir Moss is now a very popular attendee and participant at vintage racing festivals around the world.

The Art of Racing History

I decided to stream my racing history sketches together with a soundtrack of vintage race cars.

Phil Lamont Collection

Phil Lamont from Hubbards, Nova Scotia is a great racer and great gentleman. In the last few years, he is more often than not Formula Junior North American Champion, sucessfully racing his 1960 Lotus 18 Formula Junior.

Phil also runs Vintage Tyres Limited (Vintyre@aol.com), the North American supplier for Dunlop vintage racing tyres.

Tazio Nuvolari in an Auto Union Type-D

Tazio Nuvolari won the 1938 British GP driving the V-12 Auto Union. The inset shows the gold turtle pendant "logo" that he wore at all his races.

In my opinion, Fangio was the greatest Grand Prix driver there ever was. His brilliance was opitomized in his maestro drive of the 1957 German GP.
